Here is a wonderful and healthy alternative to ice cream. I got this recipe from my sister a couple of years ago and as a result, I always keep a large supply of peeled, ripe frozen bananas in the freezer! Once the bananas are ripe (starting to develop brown spots), I peel them, break them into quarters, place in a large bowl and store them in the freezer. The recipe is very quick and will likely keep you full for several hours.

“Guilt-free” Banana Protein Shake (trust me when I say it is MUCH better than it sounds!)

In a blender combine the following ingredients:

1 cup (8 ounces) cold soy milk

6 pieces of frozen banana (about 1-1/2 bananas)

2 tablespoons honey

1 teaspoon real vanilla

1 scoop of your favorite brand vanilla protein powder

Using the ICE CRUSH feature (if you have one, and yes, AFTER the lid is secured in place!), crush the ingredients until the frozen bananas are no longer heard. Next, switch to BLEND and blend until the shake is smooth. Experiment with your favorite flavor (i.e., chocolate, strawberry, etc.). Enjoy right away

For extra thick shake that can be spooned like ice cream, add more banana pieces!
